King Charles is reportedly getting “impatient” with Prince Andrew and has given him “two choices” about where he lives in Windsor.
Even though Andrew, 64, stepped down from official duties almost five years ago, he still lives in the large Royal Lodge in Windsor. His police security was taken away after he faced scandal, and now Charles pays for his bodyguards and living expenses.
But now, according to The Times, Charles is frustrated with Andrew and wants him to move out of the Royal Lodge. Charles has given Andrew two options for his future:
- Andrew could find a way to pay for his own security and living costs without depending on Charles.
- Andrew could move to “more suitable accommodation,” like Frogmore Cottage, which was the home of Harry and Meghan before they left royal duties. Frogmore Cottage is still within the Windsor estate’s secure area and was renovated by the Sussexes.
Charles is said to be willing to support Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, if they choose to move to Frogmore Cottage.
A source told The Times: “Two years into the King’s reign, he wants this issue resolved.”
Last month, The Sun reported that Charles had dismissed Andrew’s private security team.
A palace insider said: “Everyone thinks this means Andrew will have to leave the Royal Lodge.”
The source added: “Why else would they remove his security?”
It is believed the current security team will work until the end of October, with no plans to replace them. It’s clear that Charles wants Andrew to move out.
Earlier this year, Charles reportedly warned Andrew that his living situation might become “increasingly cold and uncomfortable.”
Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, who live at Royal Lodge, were offered Frogmore Cottage but declined. Friends of Andrew say his long-term lease on Royal Lodge makes him feel secure staying there.
Palace insiders have made it clear that while Andrew is still the King’s brother and can attend family events, he will not return to public duties.
