How to Apply for CM Punjab Free Solar Panel Scheme

Consumers can apply for the scheme starting today through an online portal at cmsolarscheme.punjab.gov.pk or by sending their details via SMS to 8800. The application process involves verification through the reference and CNIC numbers on the applicant’s electricity bill, followed by a computerized ballot system to ensure transparency.

Solar System Distribution Details

The Provincial Secretary for Energy briefed the Chief Minister on the specifics of the scheme:

  • 550-watt solar systems will be distributed to 52,019 households using up to 100 units of electricity per month.
  • 1,100-watt solar systems will be allocated to households consuming up to 200 units per month.
  • The entire scheme will be rolled out over the course of one year.

Additional Measures and Benefits

To prevent theft, solar panels and inverters will be linked to the consumer’s CNIC. The installation of 100,000 solar systems is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 57,000 tons and lessen the subsidy burden on the federal government.
